January Mayhem.. A Little Catchup

6 Feb

Good evening my lovely followers (and the equally lovely new visitors!)

So i haven’t blogged for quite a period of time now, since early December. I feel truly awful for neglecting my blog for so long, and i do apologise for the lack of posts! However, university issues and personal matters took over the last couple of months and finally the stress is subsiding a little – a great chance to get back on the blogging bandwagon!

I hope you all had the most AMAAAAAZING Christmas, in my opinion, too much food, a warm fire and a room full of happy people who you love – is there anything more perfect?!

And did you get any particularly gorgey gifts? Nothing beats Christmas,A particular gift that i am now head over heels in love with is this sparkly little number!

I often open my wardrobe and just stroke it. Sad, but so true . Unfortunately the sequins are starting to fall off it, but a few stitches here and there will do the trick! Some of Louise Gray’s Topshop Collection are in the Topshop sale now, so do have a little look and check out the sale in your local store to find the further reduced sequinned goodies by Gray!

I managed to get my UCAS application form sent off in December so January was very exciting and equally nerve-racking indeed! If you have ever applied (or are applying) to an art and design based course you will completely understand the stress that comes when you are invited to interview. Cue panic attacks, empty wallets from buying portfolio, broken sanity from finding work to fill portfolio and finally, dislocating limbs whilst carrying portfolio. I may not be short, but i am not the most muscular, so transporting the portfolio is always a bit of an ordeal. Who on Earth decided that an A1 portfolio was practical? On the tube in London it was especially horrendous. I call it Tube Rage.

I applied to study BA Fashion Design at (not in any particular order):

-Nottingham Trent – Unconditional Offer

-East London – Conditional Offer

-Northumbria – Interview

-Kingston – Interview

-Westminster

I am very confused at the moment as to where i would like to go, but visiting the universities for interviews is already helping me to make the decision. You just have to remember that its not just them judging you, you are judging them too!

I’ve found the most amazing website today that gives you all the inside goss of where has the best nightlife etc and comments from actual students – i have already found it so helpful, so do check it out if your are having difficulty making decisions!

Anyway, enough of all the University nonsense for a minute!

I would just like to share with you the outcome for my most recent project, named ‘Culture Clash’. The cultures I chose to research were Welsh Farmers and Tibet. A pretty good clash indeed!

I’m super pleased with the outcome, wish i had photographed my illustrations before they went in my portfolio too! I printed the fabric myself, and used sustainable/recycled materials throughout the entire garment.

I am sorry about the length of this post, but it is nice to be able to put it all down in words – puts it all into perspective really.

I’d love you know if you’re applying for Fashion and where to?! And its always great to hear about peoples interview experiences too!

Tah Rah! <3
